About

The goal of Inklights is to gather Christian, teenage authors together so that they can share and discuss their writing, analyze aspects of the literary world, and encourage and learn from each other.  We do this because words are some of the most powerful things in the world.  They can start wars and bring peace, spark revolutions of freedom and usher in dictators, and most importantly, they can change and influence individual hearts.  This last is our goal.  We may never write a declaration that will usher in a new breed of government or a novel that will start a war, but what we write can shine a little bit of light into the dark places of library shelves and someone's heart.

This, essentially, is the goal of Inklights, and the reason I chose this particular name.  It really has a double meaning.  First, it represents how through the "ink of our pens" (figuratively, if not literally) we can be the "light of the world," as Jesus commanded.  Secondly, as you may recognize, it's a play on words.  The Inklings group founded by Lewis, Tolkien, and others is widely known, and sadly it would be stealing to use their name; but the goal of their group, where they shared and critiqued each other's writing, is exactly what we're trying to accomplish here.  We need other people to help us along our writing journey, and our goal is to create a community to do just that.  Whether you're here to write, to join in the discussion, or just to read, I pray you'll be blessed!
